Sugar Soap
When youโve spent hours painting surfaces inside and outside your home, you want to keep them looking great for as long as possible.
Cleaning painted walls, stonework, masonry, and more can all be done with Bartoline Sugar Soap. If your surfaces are stained, and regular soap and water wonโt get the job done, look no further.
What is Bartoline Sugar Soap?
Bartoline sugar soap is a traditional formula soap powder that, when mixed with water, will remove grease, stains, and old paint from a wide range of surfaces.
Sugar soap is ideal if youโre repainting a surface. Any dirt or imperfections will show through even multiple layers of new paint, so cleaning the surface as thoroughly as possible is crucial. Just make sure itโs 100% dry before you start painting.
This is especially true for exterior stonework and masonry, which get dirtier when exposed to the elements. Use this product before painting any of the following:
- Patio Tiles
- Path Slabs
- Bricks
- Stone Walls
- Facing Slabs
A clean surface will not only make colours bolder; itโll also improve the durability of your new paint. Grime and old paint that is trapped underneath the new layer will prevent it from sticking, creating a patchy finish even after multiple layers.
How to Clean Stonework
Unlike your interior walls, your stonework needs a lot more than just soap and water to clean it properly. A jetwash is a common way to do this and does remove a large amount of grime and dirt from stone surfaces.
However, if you donโt have access to a jetwash a small quantity of Bartoline sugar soap mixed with water will cut through the grime just as well. You will need a bit of elbow grease, but the results speak for themselves.
Jet washing can also damage some stonework, whereas using sugar soap keeps the surface intact and looking great.
How to Clean Interior Walls
No matter how careful we are, your interior walls will start to look worn out over time. Even the toughest oil-based paints donโt last forever, but if you take care of your walls, you can maximise their longevity.
Regular emulsion paint can be cleaned with soap, as can most water-based interior paints. But oil-based paints will repel any water, and the dirt will stay put. Sugar soap will take off the grime without damaging the paint, making it a great alternative to other cleaning products that will.
Before you commit to any cleaning products, make sure you know what type of paint youโre cleaning, so you donโt damage it.
