Masonry Paints
Quality masonry paint is essential for making your home look its best. Worn-out stonework and bricks need a splash of paint every few years as part of your decorating plans. If you use the best masonry paint from Paintmaster, you can get a great finish that will last a long time.
Types of Masonry Paint
Masonry paint is different to other types of paint as it is specifically suited to bricks and stone surfaces which are generally more absorbent. There are 3 main types of masonry paint to choose from:
- Limewash
- Silicate
- Acrylic
Limewash is only recommended for lime render homes, as other types of paint would damage the old surfaces and need a higher level of breathability.
Silicate is very durable but expensive and not beginner friendly. It is ideal for tradespeople and painters with a lot of experience and is normally used on listed buildings etc.
Acrylic is the best of both worlds as it lasts for years and is easy to work with. It also has a range of finishes and hundreds of colours; the choices are endless.
How to Paint Masonry
Like all painting projects, you’ll need to clean the surface thoroughly before you start painting. A quality primer, such as Paintmaster Stabilising primer, is also important for the best finish and reduces the amount of paint you’ll need due to absorbency reduction.
Once the primer has dried, a few coats of your chosen masonry paint will transform your bricks and stonework.
