Description

Emulsion paints are the most popular for a range of interior surfaces, especially your walls. However, with so many types of emulsion paint available, it can be hard to decide which is right for your project.

Our vinyl silk emulsion paint is one of the best we provide, with an advanced compound and perfect finish that suits the walls of any room.

The Benefits of Emulsion Paint

Emulsion paints like our vinyl silk are water-based. This makes them much easier to apply for beginners, and there are no strong odours or harmful VOCs to worry about.

Water-based paints are also air-drying. If you don’t have much time to dedicate to painting, or you want to be able to access those rooms again as soon as possible, a fast-drying paint is ideal.

In the past, if durability was the goal, you needed oil-based paints for the best results. These days water-based paint compounds are almost as tough, and will look great for years to come, even in high-wear areas.

With Paintmaster, all our paints have advanced compounds so you can rest assured that they’ll last. Our vinyl silk emulsion protects the surface, so damp will be less likely to form, and your walls and other surfaces will resist stains, scratches, scuffs, and general wear and tear.

When durability is no longer an issue, you can choose your paint based on other, equally important factors. Such as…

The Best Sheen for Interior Walls

When choosing an emulsion paint for interior walls, sheen and colour are both vital to consider. Some people make the mistake of only focusing on colour but then aren’t a fan of how their surfaces look in certain light levels. This is because of the sheen they chose.

Vinyl silk paint is best for people who want a medium to high shine finish. This means that it will reflect both natural and artificial light which prevents your colour from looking flat or fading into the background when you look at the room as a whole.

If you aren’t sure which sheen is right for you, we always recommend testing it in an area that will experience multiple light levels throughout the day. This will give you more insight into how it will look; so there’s less chance of you regretting your decision later.

Emulsion Paint for Commercial and Industrial Use

Emulsion paints are also fantastic for bigger painting projects and are one of the go-to products for tradespeople.

Thanks to their ease of use and robust nature, our vinyl silk emulsion a popular choice for large environments, including factories and warehouses. It provides excellent coverage and opacity, so walls look excellent after just a couple of coats. If the surface you’re painting has a few imperfections like minor dents or marks, vinyl silk will cover them up, although if they are more noticeable, we recommend using filler or repairing them first to ensure a professional finish.

Water-based silk paints paints are also washable, meaning that painted surfaces are easy to maintain. This is important at home, where stains on walls can happen any time, but in industrial environments they are even more common. When your walls can be made to look good as new with nothing more than soap and water, you’ll be glad that you chose emulsion paint

The Best Colour for Emulsion Paint

Our vinyl silk paint comes in magnolia, light grey, cream, and white as standard, but it’s also part of our Colour System. Simply enter a British Standard or RAL colour code and we’ll mix that exact colour for you.

Sometimes it can be tough to find the exact shade you want for your walls. Instead just find out the code and let us handle the rest!

As important as sheen levels are, the colour is still the most important factor. Don’t settle for paint that you aren’t 100% happy with, and trust Paintmaster to help you make your dreams a reality.

FAQ's

Does silk paint have a shiny finish?

Silk paint provides a shiny finish which means that it is a lot easier to clean any marks and scuffs. The shiny finish will reflect a bit of light, which if you have painted your walls with silk paint, can make the room seem brighter and more spacious.

Is it better to use silk paint or matt paint?

There isn’t a difference in quality between silk paint and matt paint however there are advantages and disadvantages for both. Due to silk paint’s durability and that it is easier to clean, we would recommend using this in high-traffic areas of the home, particularly if you have pets or children.

Although the non reflective finish of matt paint is appealing, it is a lot more difficult to clean, and more susceptible to damage.
