Description

Our acrylic satinwood paint is one of the most popular water-based paints we provide. It’s durable, meaning it will look great for a long time, but is much easier to work with than our oil-based range.

This reliability makes it one of the best paints for both professional and domestic painters, and it’s affordable too!

 What is Acrylic Satinwood?

Acrylic satinwood is a water-based paint which, as you can imagine, is designed for a range of wood surfaces. It can also be used on interior metals too!

Water-based paints can be just as durable as oil-based paints, despite being much more beginner-friendly. It resists chipping, scratching, and staining, ensuring that your woodwork stays looking fresh and beautiful for years to come.

As an added bonus, our acrylic satinwood paint dries much more quickly than the equivalent oil-based paint in our range. If you have limited painting time, this makes it much easier to fit some interior painting into your busy schedule.

One or two coats of acrylic satinwood is normally plenty, especially if you pair it with a primer. With the high-quality pigments and binders you expect from Paintmaster, the paint will always be opaque with a perfect coverage.

What is Acrylic Satinwood used for?

Acrylic satinwood can be used on the following interior wood surfaces:

  • Doors
  • Door Frames
  • Cupboard Doors
  • Furniture
  • Skirting Boards

However, our acrylic satinwood can also be used on metal surfaces, making it one of the most versatile paints for the interior of your home.

 Best Sheen for Acrylic Satinwood

Our acrylic satinwood paint delivers a luxurious satin finish, helping to bring out the warmth of your wood and metal surfaces. It’s a subtle sheen, meaning it doesn’t reflect much direct light.

In rooms with a lot of light surfaces, such as kitchens and living rooms, this is ideal to keep glare to a minimum. We always recommend testing your paint in an inconspicuous area, but one that will experience a range of light levels. This way you can see exactly how the finished project will look, before you fully commit.

 Best Colour for Acrylic Satinwood

As this paint can be used on so many surfaces, there are a lot of colour options that may suit you.

For wood, warm colours like browns and oranges are popular, especially on furniture, whereas many people prefer cooler shades for metal.

The final decision will depend on the room’s colour scheme and your own personal preference. Thankfully, we can always mix the perfect colour.

Our acrylic satinwood is part of our colour system. Simply enter a British Standard or RAL code at checkout and we’ll create any colour you can imagine.

FAQ's

Can you paint over satinwood paint?

You can paint straight over satinwood paint, however we do not recommend that you do so. If you paint straight over the old satinwood paint then you won’t get the smooth finish, and it will not enhance the natural grain and texture of the wood. Therefore, we recommend that you give your old satinwood paint a light sanding before adding the new coat.

Is satinwood paint good for skirting boards?

satinwood paint is particularly good for painting skirting boards due to it’s blend of both durability and sheen. It is formulated to resist chipping, scratching, and staining, and is also quite easy to clean, making it ideal for if you get any scuff marks.

What are the disadvantages of satinwood paint?

Satinwood paint doesn’t have the same glossy finish as gloss paint, so for example if you were painting your front door with satinwood paint, it wouldn’t stand out the way gloss paint will. Also, although satinwood paint is very durable, it is not designed to withstand high levels of moisture, meaning that it is not the best option for bathrooms and some areas of your kitchen.

What is satinwood paint used for?

Satinwood paint is a semi-gloss paint that is excellent for retaining colour for long periods of time, and also easy to clean. This makes it a very popular choice for painting the interior of your house, whether that is doors, furniture or skirting boards.
